Designated County Manager

In 1996 the Minister for the Environment, Heritage & Local Government provided for the designation of a City/County Manager in each region to be responsible for relations with the regional authority and to improve co-ordination and linkage with and between local authorities.

The Designated County Manager is required to submit periodic reports to the Regional Authority on measures being taken by local authorities in the region to promote the proper coordination of their policies, plans and programmes.
