Connected Communities
The South-East Regional Authority received approval and funding from the Southern & Eastern Regional Assembly through its Regional Programme of Innovative Actions under Article 10 of the European Regional Development Fund for its "Connected Communities" Project during 2003. Funding for this project is now over. The project team, in conjunction with the communities are currently exploring models and structures to create revenue streams for individual community groups to ensure the long term sustainability of the project in each community.
The project involved the development of a dynamic and all inclusive pilot ICT development and demonstration site in a selected community in each county in the South-East Region which can be used to demonstrate best practices and provide templates and models that can be transferred to other community sites within each county in the Region.
The "Connected Community" project involved the facilitation of communities in the South-East Region, in the creation of relevant local community-based web content and mobile services.
